Ms. Schindler is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Clinical Site Supervisor of Michigan Psychological’s Marysville location. With a background in clinical mental health counseling, child development, trauma, and art therapy, she provides counseling to adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.
At the heart of Ms. Schindler’s work is her belief that meaningful therapy begins with genuine human connection. Her approach is integrative, holistic, and highly relational, recognizing the interconnectedness of an individual’s thoughts, emotions, relationships, experiences, identity, environment, and personal values. Her counseling style is warm, conversational, and direct, incorporating authenticity and humor while creating an environment in which clients can feel understood without judgment and supported in recognizing patterns, considering new perspectives, and making meaningful changes.
Ms. Schindler draws from cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed, person-centered, insight-oriented, and strengths-based approaches to individualize treatment to each client. Her clinical experience includes working with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, trauma, grief and loss, relationship and family difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem and identity concerns, emotional dysregulation, and personality disorders. She also has extensive experience working with the youngest of children, providing parent training, collaborating with schools and other treating professionals, neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, autism, individuals with developmental disabilities and serious mental illness, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Rather than viewing clients simply through the lens of a diagnosis, Ms. Schindler strives to understand the whole person and the experiences and relationships that have shaped how they see themselves and the world around them.
As Clinical Site Supervisor, Ms. Schindler has completed the Michigan LPC Supervision Course, credentialing her to provide licensing supervision to Limited Licensed Professional Counselors, and graduate-level Counseling students. She earned her undergraduate degree with studies in child development from Rochester University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Detroit Mercy. She has received additional specialized training in play therapy, art therapy, trauma-focused treatment, and is certified as a National Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Ms. Schindler considers counseling both a calling and a privilege, and places tremendous value on the relationships she develops with her clients. Her goal is to know the person behind the symptoms and to create a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported as they work toward healthier and more fulfilling lives.
